Amber Ptak

Director, Gay & Lesbian Fund

Amber Ptak joined the Gay and Lesbian Fund for Colorado in the role of director. As the director, Amber is responsible for day-to-day business operations, management of GLFC grant making programs, developing collaborations and partnerships with funders, strategic community members and nonprofit organizations, and initiating strategic initiatives to further the local and statewide impact of the GLFC mission.

Prior to joining the Gay & Lesbian Fund in 2010, Amber was an independent consultant in nonprofit grant writing, multi-disciplinary collaborations, and domestic violence and child maltreatment prevention. Amber also worked as the project director of the El Paso County, Colorado ‘Greenbook Grant.’ In her role as Project Director, Amber facilitated a multi-disciplinary collaboration that included representatives from law enforcement, criminal and civil courts, domestic violence advocacy, child protective services, prosecutors, child advocacy, and mental health.

Amber holds a Bachelor of Science degree in community health education from Western Michigan University and is currently completing her Masters degree in public administration from the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs.

Amber enjoys spending time with her family and traveling to new places. She tries to live by the Thich Nhat Hanh quote, “The day has now ended. Our lives are shorter. Now we look carefully. What have we done?”
