Hate Crimes Map

Hate crimes are considered among the most vicious of crimes because they’re not directed simply at an individual but are meant to cause fear and intimidation in an entire group of people. That’s why we advocate for LGBT-inclusive statewide hate crimes protections. Here’s the State of Equality on statewide hate crimes protections.

On October 28, 2009, President Barack Obama signed a federal Hate Crimes prevention law.
We continue to advocate for similar laws in all 50 states.
Statewide hate crimes statute that specifies sexual orientation and gender identity / expression. Statewide hate crimes statute that specifies sexual orientation only. No statewide hate crimes statute that specifies sexual orientation and gender identity / expression.
