Prior to 2007, it was legal in most of Colorado to discriminate against gay and transgender people simply for being who they are. Today, laws exist to protect them from discrimination in their place of employment, public accommodations, and housing. [Denver] (May 20, 2008) The Gill Foundation announced today the release of its 2007 annual report: Achieving Full Equality. The report is available online at www.gillannualreport.org. This year’s report focuses on the efforts of individuals and organizations working to advance equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people at all stages of life. [Colorado Springs] (May 13, 2008) – One year ago this month, Colorado passed into law an amended version of the Employment Nondiscrimination Act (ENDA). The new ENDA extends workplace discrimination protections to include sexual orientation and gender identity. As the one-year anniversary approaches, the Gay & Lesbian Fund for Colorado is encouraging corporations, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, educational institutions, and other business entities to ensure that they are in compliance with the law. The fund also assists employers with their compliance efforts by providing informational resources to help accelerate and simplify that process.
