Gill Foundation and Grantees Highlighted in New York Times

[New York] (November 13, 2007)  The Gill Foundation was recently the focus of a New York Times article focusing on growing interest in gay philanthropy in recent years.  “Grants for Gay Services Grow and Go Mainstream” appeared in the New York Times annual Giving section on November 12, 2007. 

Candid Interview with Tim Sweeney by Matt Kailey of OutFront Colorado

[Denver] (November 6, 2007)  Matt Kailey of OutFront Colorado recently published a candid interview with the Gill Foundation's new Executive Director, Tim Sweeney.  Tim discusses the path which led him to the foundation, his work with Gay Men's Health Crisis, ACT UP, and Empire State Pride Agenda.  Tim also discusses the begining of his career and how he came to be involved in working for equality.

Center for Effective Philanthropy Releases Report on Foundation Strategy

[Cambridge] (October 2007) - "Beyond the Rhetoric: Foundation Strategy" was recently released by the Center for Effective Philanthropy.  The report combines interviews of 42 chief executives and program officers at two dozen large philanthropies and was created to examine the strategy behind giving. 

Gill Foundation Grantee Awarded Outstanding Nonprofit Ad Campaign from Commercial Closet Association

[DENVER] (June 14, 2007)  The Commercial Closet Association (CCA) announced today that it presented the Outstanding Nonprofit Ad Campaign to Public Interest for an ad campaign it produced in 2006 that was funded by the Gill Foundation. 

2006 Annual Report Now Available Online

[DENVER] (May 8, 2006)  The Gill Foundation announced today the release of its 2006 annual report.  The report is available at www.gillannualreport.org .   This year’s report highlights the stories of individuals and organizations doing exemplary collaborative work to advance equality. 

Gill Foundation Expands Management Team

[DENVER] (April 16, 2007)  Tim Gill, founder and chairman of the Gill Foundation, announced today the foundation’s plan to expand its senior management team.  Tim Sweeney, current program director for the Evelyn & Walter Haas, Jr. Fund, has been appointed executive director of the Gill Foundation effective October 1, 2007, and will lead the foundation's strategy and programs.  Current executive director Rodger McFarlane will continue with the Gill Foundation as senior advisor, focusing primarily on relationships with allied foundations and philanthropists.  Katherine Peck also will continue at the Gill Foundation as chief operating officer, focusing on the foundation’s national grantmaking as well as finance and administration.

Eric Douglas joins Gill Foundation's Leverage Center

[DENVER] (April 10, 2007)  The Gill Foundation announced today that Eric A. Douglas has joined the staff as a senior officer in the leverage center, which works with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and allied philanthropists throughout the United States to provide a strategic vision, and information on the issues to help drive more money into the movement for equality.

Dave Montez Named Associate Program Officer

[DENVER] (March 21, 2007)   The Gill Foundation today announced that Dave Montez has been hired as associate program officer.  Dave will help develop and implement a comprehensive agenda for making grants to groups working to promote equal rights. 

Debra Hansen Named Director of Finance

[DENVER](January 18, 2006)  The Gill Foundation today announced the appointment of Debra K. Hansen as director of finance.  Hansen, who lives in Lakewood, Colorado, has extensive experience in executive financial leadership in both the software and healthcare industries.

Gill Foundation Receives “Freedom Fund Community Excellence Award” From the Colorado Springs Branch of the NAACP

[COLORADO SPRINGS] (December 18, 2006) – The Gill Foundation was recently honored by the Colorado Springs Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) with a “Freedom Fund Community Excellence Award” in recognition of the foundation’s support of diversity and equality in Colorado through the recent “Moo Campaign.”

Gay & Lesbian Fund Names Veteran Arts Leader to Direct Colorado Programs

Katherine Peck Named Chief Operating Officer of Gill Foundation

[DENVER] (May 4, 2006)  The Gill Foundation today announced the promotion of Katherine Peck to the new position of Chief Operating Officer. She will oversee the foundation's finance and administration, financial and legal reporting, human resources, and national grants.

Chief Financial Officer Lori Franks Leaves Gill Foundation

[DENVER] (May 4, 2006) The Gill Foundation announced today that Lori Franks, chief financial officer, has accepted a new challenge and is leaving the foundation. Franks has been responsible for overseeing financial reporting, tax and legal compliance, administration, and human resources during more than four years at the foundation.

Patrick Flaherty Named to New Position Focusing on Regional Giving Strategies

[DENVER] (November 29, 2005) Gill Foundation has announced that Patrick M. Flaherty has been named Senior Program Officer for State Strategies.  As a key member of the foundation¹s Movement Building department, Flaherty will have responsibility for grant making to state-based organizations and the programs that support their regionally focused missions.

$2 Million Fund Unveiled to Aid Hurricane Katrina Victims

[DENVER] (September 2, 2005) Colorado philanthropist Tim Gill and the Gay & Lesbian Fund for Colorado today announced a $1 million matching grant to the American Red Cross that will bring a total of $2 million in aid from Coloradoans to Hurricane Katrina disaster relief efforts.

Patricia Evert Named Director of Gill Foundation's Leverage Center

[DENVER] (September 27, 2004) – Gay rights activist and leader Urvashi Vaid was unanimously elected to the Gill Foundation's board of directors on September 24, 2004.   Widely recognized for her work with several national gay rights organizations, she brings a wealth of knowledge, insight and experience to the foundation's mission and to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights movement.
